1. Allen Says' Audio Private Posts come as Ogg Vorbis format. Why not MP3?
The Ogg Vorbis specification is in the public domain. It is completely free for commercial or noncommercial use. Since there are no licensing fees for distributing, selling, or streaming media in the Ogg Vorbis format incurred by us, we are able to price it affordably for the majority.
Unlike Ogg Vorbis, MP3 requires licensing for commercial use. It will increase our costs which inevitably lead to a higher retail pricing of our audio products.
However, no MP3 license is needed for private, non-commercial activities (e.g., home-entertainment, receiving broadcasts and creating a personal music library). We have therefore include a section in our FAQs to teach our customers how they can convert the Ogg Vorbis files to MP3 format for their own use.
